Advanced Dental Technology South Windsor

Enhancing Your Care Experience

At South Windsor Dental, Dr. Curcio uses her extensive knowledge and skill to provide top-quality care for our patients. However, more is often needed. In many cases, our team could not accomplish what we do without the help of advanced dental technology. We have a number of specialized instruments that can make your treatment experience easier and more precise. Would you like to learn more about them? Continue reading below to find some fascinating information.

Low-Radiation Digital X-Rays

X-rays play an important role in your oral healthcare. They allow our team to see more than what the naked eye reveals. With their help, we can find out what is happening beneath your gumline, in your tight interdental spaces, and in other hard-to-see areas. We periodically capture X-rays so we can keep track of your oral health, diagnose a range of issues, and gain a more complete understanding of how we can serve you.

Our X-ray machine is all-digital. That means it uses roughly 90% less radiation than traditional X-rays! It is safe for virtually all patients. Plus, we can access the X-rays right away in our computer system, which allows us to provide fast and accurate diagnoses.

Trios3 Intraoral Scanner

If you ever had to get dental impressions taken in the past, you might remember a tedious and uncomfortable experience. You had to bite into a putty-like material and then hold perfectly still while it set. Even a small mistake could mean you had to start all over again!

Our Trios3 Intraoral scanner makes things easier. It is a small, wand-like device that we simply move around your mouth. It captures countless images and then assembles them into a highly accurate digital impression. We can easily share the impressions with our partner laboratories for a more streamlined restoration process. Additionally, many patients find that the digital scanner is much more comfortable than manual impressions, even for people with a sensitive gag reflex.

We often use our intraoral scanner for the following treatments:

Pearl AI

Pearl AI is a remarkable software that analyzes radiographs (X-rays) pixel by pixel to help us identify things like cavities, infections, and bone loss. It is highly detailed and may catch things that it would be easy for the naked eye to miss. It even color-codes its finding so its findings are easy to analyze and understand. (Do not worry — this is not a replacement for a thorough review of your X-rays by a human dentist. Dr. Curcio will still carefully review your images!)
